From January to April, the total import and export volume of cashmere raw materials and products reached USD 514 million, a year on year increase of 14.22%. The foreign trade performance of the cashmere industry maintained a sound momentum, with import and export trade continuing to expand steadily.
Exports of cashmere raw materials and products stood at USD 417 million in the first four months, rising 9.22% year on year. Of this total, exports of dehaired cashmere were USD 104 million, up 18.75% year on year; cashmere yarn exports were USD 157 million, a year on year growth of 1.32%; cumulative exports of cashmere sweaters hit USD 127 million, increasing by 16.82% year on year; cumulative exports of cashmere scarves amounted to USD 20.81 million, a year on year decrease of 7.72%.
Imports of cashmere raw materials and products were USD 97 million from January to April, surging 42.16% year on year. Specifically, imports of dehaired cashmere were USD 6.31 million (attributable to adjusted trade policies of relevant exporting countries in the previous year, resulting in a low base in the same period last year); imports of cashmere yarn were USD 11.53 million, down 7.79% year on year. Cumulative imports of cashmere sweaters and cashmere scarves were USD 34.29 million and USD 42.92 million respectively, growing by 19.72% and 65.79% year on year. Duty free cashmere scarves accounted for nearly 5% of the total import value of such products.
