According to data from Chinese Customs, in 2025, the total import and export volume of wool textile raw materials and products reached $16 billion (RMB 114.8 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 2.0%. Affected by fluctuations in the international situation, the scale underwent a slight adjustment.
For the full year, the export value of wool textile raw materials and products was $12.2 billion (RMB 87.08 billion), a slight year-on-year decline of 0.9%. Wool yarn and wool knitwear showed good growth: cumulative exports of wool yarn reached 31,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.2%, while annual exports of wool knitwear totaled 120 million pieces, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%. Rapid export growth to the EU, UK, and ASEAN compensated for the decline in exports to the US.
The main export destinations for wool textile raw materials and products are primarily traditional consumer markets and downstream sectors of emerging wool textile industry chains. Among these, the United States remains the most significant export market, while the EU's market share increased further.
In 2025, imports of wool raw materials and primary processed wool reached 304,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8%. Specifically, greasy wool imports totaled 251,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.9%. In December, wool prices continued to increase month-on-month, with a growth rate reaching 14.1%.
