According to Chinese customs data, the total import and export volume of woolen raw materials and products from January to March 2025 was 3.11 billion US dollars (20.5 billion yuan), a year-on-year decrease of 0.5%. Among them, the export value of woolen raw materials and products was 2.35 billion US dollars (RMB 16.9 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6.7%, and the import value was 750 million US dollars (RMB 3.6 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 17.7%.
The export of major wool textile products in the middle and lower reaches has grown rapidly. In the first quarter, the export of wool yarn was 8784 tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.9%. The export of wool fabric was 14.66 million meters, a year-on-year increase of 14.7%. The export of wool knitted clothing was 13.3 million pieces, a year-on-year increase of 21.4%. The export of wool shuttle clothing was 5.18 million pieces, a year-on-year increase of 38.6%. The export of upstream products in the woolen industry has declined rapidly, with wool strips exported at 10000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 16.3%, and non plush products exported at 683 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 28.4%.
The export growth rate of woolen raw materials and products to the United States continued to accelerate in the first quarter of this year, with a year-on-year increase of 23.7%, reaching 530 million US dollars (RMB 3.83 billion); Exported 320 million US dollars (RMB 2.32 billion) to the European Union, a year-on-year decrease of 9.2%.
From January to March 2025, the total import of wool was 71000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.1%, with an import value of 440 million US dollars (RMB 3.15 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 14.4%; The average import unit price is 6.2 US dollars per kilogram, a year-on-year decrease of 5.9%. The wool imported from Australia amounted to 40000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 21.6%.
