From January to August 2025, the EU's import value of wool textile products (imports from outside the EU) reached 2.82 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 1.4%. For the January-July period, the EU's import values of wool yarns, wool fabrics and wool woven garments decreased by 3.1%, 0.7% and 1.9% year-on-year respectively. The decline narrowed significantly compared with the first half of the year, while the import growth rate of wool knitwear expanded further, rising by 6.2% year-on-year. The EU wool textile market showed an obvious recovery trend.
In January-August 2025, Japan's import value of wool textile products was 107.1 billion yen (approximately 710 million US dollars), a year-on-year decrease of 7.8%, continuing the relatively weak momentum of Japan's wool textile market in recent years. The two most important categories of wool textile products both showed adjustment and downward trends. Among them, the import value of wool knitwear was 36.8 billion yen, with a year-on-year growth rate of 1.3% (a significant slowdown in growth), and the import value of wool woven garments was 31.7 billion yen, a year-on-year decrease of 16.2%.
